The City of Ottawa has approved the application for Lifting of a Holding Symbol Proposal for 100 Steacie Drive received on October 20, 2025. The Site Plan Application can be commented on now, as it was deemed complete and formally circulated. All comments received prior to approval will be considered by City staff. Notice of this had gone out to anyone who had commented in the past, and to community associations. I just wanted to be sure that everyone in the community had an opportunity to comment on the site plan.
As you may know from watching other developments go forward, tree cutting on site is regulated by City by-laws and overseen by our City’s Forestry Department. Information on the City’s Tree Protection By-law can be read at Tree Protection By-law | City of Ottawa. Representatives from Brigil, the developer in this case, reached out to me yesterday to let me know that they will be clearing some trees from the site ahead of development. Developers tend to clear trees before nesting season begins…which is now. You can expect to see some tree removal from the site shortly. Know that all work is being done in coordination with City of Ottawa Forestry staff to ensure compliance.
Briefly, as many of you are aware, the proposed development is a four-storey apartment building containing 214 residential units and 214 vehicle parking spaces. This was a file that City Council voted against but was unable to be defended at the OLT. It has been a highly frustrating file. However, we are where we are right now. And, you have the ability to send in your comments on the site plan.
You can provide any feedback, and access all project documents, here through the City’s DevApps portal.
