We’ve received notification about upcoming road closures we’d like everyone to be aware of.
The Parkway
In preparation for work on the addition to Earl of March Secondary School at 4 The Parkway, The Parkway will be closed from Teron Road to Oakes Wood. The contractor will be installing sewer and water as part of Earl of March Secondary School addition.
- The Parkway from Teron Road to Oakes Wood: The road will be closed from Monday, August 4 to
Tuesday, September 30 - October 17 Update: The closure of The Parkway is extended until October 31st. Our team received the following update from the OCDSB project officer, Barry Boyd:“As part of the construction of the 25 classroom addition at Earl of March SS, we have had to connect water, storm and sanitary lines to existing services on The Parkway. Unfortunately, due to site conditions some of the roadway work has been delayed. There was a significant amount of rock capping to be removed. This also needed to be done without blasting to meet municipal required depths. This has delayed our original schedule of completion (end of Aug). Currently we are on pace for Oct 16-17 for placement and compaction of the granular base on the road. Paving is scheduled for Oct 20 to 22, weather permitting. Also note, that we have been monitoring vibrations in the areas associated with the construction. At this time there are no concerns with vibration levels.”
Earl Grey Extension Project
Construction will be starting in late August with the Earl Grey Drive extension passing under Terry Fox Drive and requiring the construction of a new bridge structure to connect Earl Grey Drive and Didsbury Road. As part of the project, the intersection of Terry Fox Drive and Didsbury Road will be upgraded to meet the requirements of the City’s protected intersection guidelines. There will be traffic impacts to Terry Fox Drive between Campeau Drive and the 417 as well as on Didsbury Road. Specific closure details will be posted when they are available.
- October 8 Update: Terry Fox Drive southbound from Didsbury to Highway 417 will be reduced to 1 lane for work related to the Earl Grey Drive extension project from October 13 to October 31 during peak, off-peak, and overnight hours. Light passenger vehicles, heavy trucks and public transit will be impacted. Pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained.
- October 14 Update: Southbound lanes on Terry Fox Drive between Didsbury Road to Highway 417 will be reduced to 1 lane from October 13 to October 31. No long term Northbound lanes reductions at this time. This work will allow for a widening of the road platform so that future lane shifts can accommodate two lanes in each direction as we undertake the construction of the underpass and intersection. Work will continue through the winter on this project.
Terry Fox Drive and Highway 417 Interchange
The Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has contracted Thomas Cavanagh Construction Limited (TCCL) to complete roadway rehabilitation of Terry Fox Drive at the Highway 417 interchange, as well as resurfacing and repair of the Highway 417 westbound off-ramp at Carp Road.
The scope of work for this project includes earth excavation, grading, partial and full depth asphalt removals, hot mix paving, traffic detector loops, and pavement markings. Construction is scheduled to commence on September 3, 2025, and will continue until contract completion on October 3, 2025.
TCCL will take every precaution to minimize interruptions, however, daily single or multi-lane closures and/or shoulder closures are anticipated for the duration of the project, as well as intermittent ramp closures. The allowable closure times are as follows:
- Terry Fox Dr @ Hwy 417 (2 lanes both ways) – One lane closures: Mon: 00:00–06:00, 21:00–23:59; Tues–Thurs: 00:00–06:00, 21:00–23:59; Fri: 00:00–06:00, 22:00–23:59; Sat: 00:00–06:00, 22:00–23:59; Sun: 00:00–06:00, 21:00–23:59.
- Hwy 417 @ Carp Rd; E-N/S Ramp (1 lane) – Ramp closures: Mon–Wed: 00:00–06:00, 22:00–23:59; Thurs: 00:00–06:00, 22:00–23:59; Fri: 00:00–06:00, 22:00–23:59; Sat–Sun: 00:00–10:00, 22:00–23:59.
- Hwy 417 @ Terry Fox Dr; S-W Ramp, N-W Ramp, W-N/S Ramp, S-E Ramp, N-E Ramp (1 lane) – Ramp closures: Mon–Sun: 00:00–06:00, 22:00–23:59.
- Hwy 417 @ Terry Fox Dr; E-N/S Ramp (2 lanes) – Two lane/full closures: Mon–Sun: 00:00–06:00, 22:00–23:59.
Construction signs will be placed in advance of any on-going work to provide notice to drivers.
