At the April 13 MVCA Board meeting, members received the Alto High-Speed Rail (HSR) Proposal Initial Assessment. The report, included in the meeting agenda (page 117), outlines potential considerations and impacts of the proposed project within the Mississippi Valley watershed. If you don’t know the Alto High-Speed Rail project is a proposed rail network running from Toronto to Quebec City with one of the stops including Ottawa. I thought it would be interesting to include this map below of how close the area they are considering is to Kanata North. It is important to note that the part in green is the larger area they have looked at, but within the next year, the potential corridor is to be refined to a 60-100 metre right-of-way.
