First of all, let me thank all of you who have texted, written to or called Premier Ford regarding our determination to save our Kanata greenspace. Your help in explaining that this land was to be our neighbourhood park, and your clearly articulated concerns about public health, clearly had impact.
Over the past few weeks, the Premier has been calling residents back, leaving voice mails, texting residents, and meeting with Mayor Mark Sutcliffe. The Premier’s latest messages have been very clear. He has told residents that he believes the solution is a land swap, and he is working with Mayor Mark Sutcliffe to figure out a solution.
When I attended the Policing Conference in Niagara Falls, the Premier attended to speak to us about policing. After he spoke, he came around to our tables and chatted with us. I took that opportunity to thank him for calling so many of you back and responding to your requests for help. He told me directly the same thing he has told so many of you. He told me directly that he is working with Mayor Mark Sutcliffe on a land swap to save our promised greenspace! While the provincial legislature breaks for the next many months, know that we will still be working on every angle to save our Kanata greenspace.
