Earl Grey Drive Extension – 2 Week Look Ahead Oct 27

Our team received the following 2 week look ahead update for the Earl Grey Underpass project:

Construction

Anticipated construction activities over the next 2 weeks starting October 27th week

  • Paving Temporary roadway widening along the easterly side of Terry Fox Drive near Kanata Centrum Center for future stage 4 traffic
  • Install overhead span wires for the temporary traffic signals at Terry Fox and Roland Michener/Didsbury intersection during evening hours
  • Didsbury Road (west) temporary widening for sewer tie-in works
  • Didsbury Road (west) MTO access road gate installation
  • Continue site survey and layout along Terry Fox
  • Commence shoring system (earth retainment) for Terry Fox Bridge construction along westerly side of Terry Fox Drive.

Traffic

The following are the current and upcoming traffic impacts for your community.

Lane Closures

Anticipated lane closures over the next 2 weeks, continuing the week of October 27th:

  • Lane closures along Terry Fox Drive for Stage 1 traffic configuration – two North-bound lanes open, one South-bound lane open traffic during the daytime hours between approximately Campeau Drive to Hwy 417 WBL exits
  • Implement Stage 4 traffic configuration (planned later during October 29th, weather contingent) – two North-bound lanes open and two South-bound lane open
  • One Left turn lane closed at Roland Michener Drive for westerly turning movement onto Terry Fox Drive South-bound direction until Stage 4 traffic is implemented.
  • Encroachment/flagging along Didsbury Road (west) near Roger Neilson Way, daytime works.

Pedestrian Detours

No impacts anticipated, north-bound cyclists and pedestrians along Terry Fox Drive are detoured to the temporary multi-use pathway along the East side of Terry Fox Drive.

OC Transpo Detours

No route impacts anticipated.

Other

  • Access to residents and business are being maintained
  • PVMS signs in place
  • Ongoing discussions with the BIA
