Immediately after the flooding on and around the golf course, with the Beaverpond overflowing its banks, staff sent inspectors over to survey the damage and the situation. They collected good data regarding the water flow and were appreciative of the many photos and videos so many of you sent in as well. I send to you many thanks from our senior staff.
Burlington situation – The City of Burlington has a greenspace/golf course challenge much like ours. They have asked the Province to intervene and help them given their serious storm water concerns. Over the past years, I have been in fairly regular contact with their mayor and a few city councillors from Burlington to share the details of our situation with them and to hear about their challenges. We wish them the best of luck in getting the provincial leaders to see the need for provincial government help when municipalities lack the power and resources to address these serious issues.
MZO motion – On that note, Mayor Mark Sutcliffe and I gave notice of motion at the last Council meeting that we also need the Province’s help to save our greenspace. The motion will come to Council for a vote on July 15th. See a copy of the notice of motion at this link.
