Most residents in the Ward are aware of the Kanata North Nuisance Mosquito Control Program. It has been in place in Kanata North since 2016, with back-to-back contracts signed with GDG Canada to implement and administer the program. The program works to reduce the nuisance mosquito population in the areas it serves.

The area-specific program receives its funding from an area-specific levy. With the 2020-2023 contract ending, Kanata North residents will be consulted about the continuation of the program.  In the new year, an area specific vote will be held in Kanata North to gauge interest for the program. As part of this consultation, there will be two community information sessions to explain how the program is implemented by the contractor, how the area specific tax levy will work, and how the area specific vote will be carried out.

Online Consultation and Information Session– Thursday, January 11 at 7:00 pm
