Earlier this week, I attended the Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority (MVCA) Annual General Meeting. The Mississippi Valley Conservation Authority (MVCA) plays an important role in protecting our local environment and supporting sustainable development across the region. Covering a large watershed area west of Ottawa, MVCA works to manage flood risks, protect water quality, and conserve natural habitats. As a member of Council for Ward 4, I sit on the MVCA Board. Currently the Provincial government is looking to merge the 36 conservation authorities in Ontario to 9, with the MVCA being merged with the Raisin Region CA, Rideau Valley CA, and the South Nation River CA to become the St. Lawrence River Regional Conservation Authority. It is amazing to review all that our MVCA has done this past year.
