Recycling Bin Replacement – With the transition to Miller Waste Services for recycling services, residents have reached out to let us know that they aren’t sure who to contact if they have broken or missing blue/black bins. For questions about recycling, please contact Miller Waste at 1-888-852-2374 or area2@millerwaste.ca. You can also learn more about the new program at circularmaterials.ca/Ottawa.
Snowplowing Issues – We have had a number of emails regarding some pathways that were missed during normal snow clearing operations recently. Thank you for waiting to see if the pathways were maybe just not cleared yet due to the amount of snow we received. After a few days, though, please reach out to 311 or to us and we will make sure crews go back. Occasionally, pathways are missed. Thanks to all of you who let us or 311 know.
Parking Ban Parking Tickets – We are still hearing from frustrated residents who received parking tickets that were issued during recent City parking bans. We agree that it doesn’t seem fair that parking tickets are still issued even after the street has been plowed. We agree that people don’t always read their email to see the parking ban notification. While I encourage everyone to get the City notifications, I also encourage residents to just check the City website before you park when we have had a recent significant snow fall. For those of you who feel that parking bans shouldn’t apply to the entire city, know that I have put in an inquiry to our Public Works manager to ask whether it is possible to exclude certain areas where banning parking is especially difficult or where it doesn’t seem to be necessary. I will let you know what I hear back.
Coyotes – We are still getting calls and emails from concerned residents who are seeing coyotes more often in their neighbourhoods. City staff have offered to hold another information session this coming week, specific to Kanata North. Please see below for more information and see if you can attend.
