Dog Waste Reminder – Given that spring is in the air, I have been receiving emails from residents who have encouraged me to remind dog owners to please pick up their dog waste when taking their dogs out for walks. The evidence that some forgot to bring a bag during winter walks is now appearing! Please remind your children that dog waste must be picked up in all public areas right away…I think you understand why!
ClubLink, Minto and Richcraft Lobby Firm – I have had a number of residents reach out to ask for more information on the lobby firm representing ClubLink, Minto and Richcraft. The lobby firm is Loyalist Public Affairs. Sorry I didn’t include that in my last message where I shared the last letter that the lobby firm sent to me.
Engineering Codes of Ethics – I had a number of residents in Kanata North who are professional engineers share that there are ethics boards and codes of ethics for engineers. They wondered whether the City has inquired with these organizations as to whether the engineering work involved in the considerable construction activity taking place at the Kanata Lakes Golf Course lands meets ethical standards for care, and for communication to neighbouring residents given the documented mercury contamination.
Our City Solicitor gave us the following information on this topic: “the practice of professional engineering in Ontario is regulated by Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO). PEO has established a formal process for receiving and reviewing complaints related to unlicensed practice, unprofessional conduct, inadequate engineering services, or professional incompetence.

Rally to Save Kanata’s Greenspace – A number of residents have written to me to tell me that they will be supporting ongoing rallies to save our Kanata Greenspace at the Kanata Golf Course lands. I understand that the next rally will take place on March 29th from 1pm – 2pm at 7000 Campeau Drive.
